Point Blank Enterprises, Inc. (“Point Blank”) announced today that the same plaintiffs (and same attorneys) whose class action complaint against Point Blank was dismissed on October 29, 2018 filed a new putative class action complaint against Point Blank in the Southern District of Florida, based upon the same core allegations and claims as their previously‐dismissed complaint. The new complaint again alleges that the hook‐and‐loop material in theSelf‐Suspending Ballistic System (“SSBS”) feature of concealable Point Blank vests wears out over time with use.Plaintiffs do not assert that the ballistic panels contained in Point Blank vests are defective or do not perform according to National Institute of Justice standards. Nor do plaintiffs allege that any wearer of Point Blank vests has been injured, and, in fact, Point Blank concealable vests with the SSBS feature have saved the lives of many officers over the past decade. On October 29, 2018, The United States Federal Court, in the southern district of Florida denied a motion for class certification filed against Point Blank Enterprises, Inc., and dismissed the case. In the case (OSTA, et al. v. Point Blank Enterprises, Inc., 0:17-cv-62051-UU, S.D. Fla.), a few individual Ohio police officers and two law enforcement associations alleged that a nationwide class should be certified to pursue claims that Point Blank’s Self-Suspending Ballistic System (SSBS) for shoulder straps used on bulletproof vests were defective. Notably, the plaintiffs in the case did not claim that any wearer had been injured because of the SSBS, and did not allege any deficiency with the ballistics or bullet-stopping power of the vests. Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin has awarded The Protective Group (TPG), a Point Blank Enterprises company a contract to provide a high performance, light-weight crew protection kit for the new CH-53K U.S. Marine Corps King Stallion heavy-lift helicopter. The crew protection kit consists of individual ballistic panels installed beneath the cabin and ramp floor and within the cabin side frames.

On a hot July night in 2017 near Norfolk, VA, veteran sergeant Donald Burns was shot while responding to a call of an armed man acting strangely. "I was shot in the chest ... amazingly, I knew that I was shot I knew, instantly that I was OK," he told WAVY.com

South Hadley, MA Fire District No. 1 recently purchased six ballistic vests, to be kept in three of the department’s ambulances in case of an emergency or active shooter scenario.
