On a hot July night in 2017 near Norfolk, VA, veteran sergeant Donald Burns was shot while responding to a call of an armed man acting strangely. "I was shot in the chest ... amazingly, I knew that I was shot I knew, instantly that I was OK," he told WAVY.com
Burns survived thanks to his Point Blank Body Armor vest.
On that night police responded to a call for an armed man walking the streets and acting bazaar. Burns had rigged a body cam to a pole to look inside an apartment window to see if the suspect was there. He only saw darkness, but the shooter had the sergeant in his sights. His saving grace was his body armor.
Point Blank Enterprises presented Sergeant Burns with a drawing and a challenge coin, something they do for every officer shot in the line of duty wearing one of their vests.
