A Fairbanks police officer responding to a call early Sunday was shot and seriously injured by a suspect who then stole the officer's patrol car before abandoning it a few blocks away, according to the Fairbanks Police Department. Sgt. Allen Brandt was struck four times in the lower part of his body and once in the chest. He was wearing his Point Blank body armor which protected his chest and he sustained injuries to his legs and shrapnel in his left eye. Officer Brandt shared powerful comments recently at Monday Night's City Council Meeting, just eight days after being shot.
